The faded plaque above the pump house door is thought to read "Wexcombe Waterworks the gift of William Corbin Finch 1899". After a "cheeky" climb up Wexcombe (heading south). The brick built pump house makes for an intriguing short stop

With 29 locks in a flight over a distance of 3.2 kilometres (2 miles) and a rise of 72 metres (237 feet) . The first lock at Foxhangers Wharf and the last lock in Devizes town.

Be careful on the final descent, pothole in road on steep section. Hit that at speed and you could do some damage. Otherwise a very nice steady climb in two parts. Great views from the top.

The Caen Hill Locks are one of the highlights of Route 4 on the Avon K Canal. Physically this is interesting. The water flows down the mountain, but the ship floats up the mountain lock by lock due to its own buoyancy.

Very pretty and impressive

This white horse was cut into the chalk in 1937 replacing the older 18th century white horse. It's best viewed from this road, you can walk across the field to it from the car park at the top of the hill but it's hard to get to a position to view it from close up.

Pretty village town with a very wide High Street.
