This cosy 16th-century building was originally two cottages, made into a country village pub in 1983. The spacious U-shaped room hosts the dartboard at one end of the bar, whilst the other, roomier end has more seating and a roaring log fire in a large stove in winter. Conversation rules here, and the pub supports darts and quiz teams. The name 'Preston' comes from the Cornish word for priest.

There is a route through the grounds of the church. This leaves the site at the rear of the cemetery. The route is little traveled and at some point seems to be overgrown by weeds / nettles, but can be continued.

Evangelical Anglican church in the village of Poughill. Much of the church building dates from the 14th century. It is famous for its splendid carved oak bench ends. On entering the building an immediate impression is created by the magnificent pews and bench ends, the old communion table and the officiant's desk facing the people, which is a rarely found survival of earlier times. The front hall of the church is closed with a metal fence (against birds/animals). Lovely church in Morwenstow!

Serves food from 12pm onwards and run by lovely people. Definitely worth a stop.

The work of art reminds of this technology for oil and gas lanterns - invented by Goldsworthy Gurney in 1839 in this place and until the invention of electric light the brightest artificial light source - and of the "big boom" of the sun and planets on May 17th, 2000. Nice place to promenade, eat and relax awhile

Bude Canal was built in 1823 to allow the transportation of mineral rich sand from Bude and the surrounding area inland to fertilize agricultural land. This revolutionised farming in the area and also allowed slate and granite to be transported to the sea. The canal was abandoned in 1891 and restoration is in progress.

Bude Canal opened in 1823 to carry sand for agricultural fertiliser to the hilly hinterland in Devon and Cornwall. Its construction cost £118,000, a considerable amount at the time. The canal runs 35 miles (56 km) from Bude to Vinworthy, Blagdon and Druxton. Today, boats can no longer navigate the entire canal as two locks have been replaced by concrete damns. Nonetheless, it remains a pretty canal with abundant wildlife.

Lovely traffic-free bike and pedestrian path out of Holsworthy and towards the coast. Part of National Cycle Route 3 from Bristol-Lands End. Well paved with a few mossy sections and can get muddy puddles on rainy days. Does have a gate that needs to be stopped and open to go through at one point but only one. Is generally quiet and easy to ride.

This is an interesting church and churchyard, in a beautiful setting, and is the final resting places for many shipwrecked sailors. The oldest parts of the church date back to the 12th century.

Great place to visit.

Great stop, coffee and cake stop

An especially beautiful Romanesque church located close to the misty coasts of Devon. Very lonely and sublime.
