This is a secluded beach near the village of Haven. It's a bit less commercialised than some of the other nearby Cornish beaches so is a great spot if you're after a quieter seaside experience.

The coastal footpath along the south bank of Pont Pill offers a great view of Fowey through the trees. Look out for the design award-winning Pencalenick house with its modern look in local stone and grass roof.

If you are looking for that hidden, idyllic, beautiful bay, then this is the place. Lantic Bay, which is owned by the National Trust, is just a classic hidden gem tucked away between Fowey and Poplerro. It has a large bay with turquoise water and golden sands; simply a stunning place. It is not easy to get to its gorgeous beach though, it will take you about twenty minutes to reach the beach by a footpath from the National Trust car park east of Polruan.

Regular crossing on the small ferry. Disappointingly for 2 bikes plus 2 people it's £6, and for 2 people in a car it's £6. My friend who used to live near here tells me that, until recently, it used to be free for bicycles.

Par Sands is a wide sandy expanse of beach with a network of sand dunes behind. The beach is flanked by Cornwall's famous exports. Looking towards the beach and east is a rural idyll whereas looking west is a china clayworks, still in use today.

From the Hall Walk you can see across to Fowey and the boats dotting the harbour.

This gothic medieval church is a grade I listed building. It was originally a stables used by the local inn, but the owners passed the building on to the local parishioners and since then it has been used as a church.

Managed by the National Trust, Lantic Bay is actually two beaches, Little Lantic and Great Lantic. You can access the sand by a set of steep steps but it is also very popular to visit by boat. Being off the beaten track, dogs are welcome on this beach all year round.

This is a great stretch of coast path for running. The ascents and descents are much more gradual than other places in Cornwall and the views are beautiful.

A bay like from a fairy tale. If you turn the corner (at low tide!) at the other end of the bay, a small rainforest is revealed, the water drips from the steep, lush green slopes.
