Mawgan Porth is a much quieter alternative to the very busy Newquay. With gorgeous sand and stunning clifftops, its surprising that it doesn't get more crowded when it's only 4 miles from Newquay. Even at high tide there is a lot of sand and life guards are present during the summer (May till September). One for an evening run as the sunsets here are stunning. There are pubs, restaurants, shops and cafes nearby and it is a Sunday Times award winning beach.

Padstow is famous for it's beautiful harbour, sandy beaches and amazing fish restaurants. Whether you grab fish and chips and sit on the harbour wall, or sample TV chef Rick Stein's first restaurant, the beaches and the food are not to be missed whilst you're here!

It is a nightmare to cycle through once the visitors are there I.e. most of the year. Cyclists don't stand a chance, I cycle to Rock and catch the ferry over to P if I need to go there.

Large sandy lesser known west facing beach with rock pools offering spectacular evening sunsets.

For Poldark fans, this was the beach used as Nampara Cove for the popular BBC series. The cliffs above are where Ross was frequently seen riding his horse. Although small where Porthcothan Bay meets land, at low tide it widens out to reveal a network of coves and caves at either end of the beach. There are public toilets, plus a shop and lifeguard cover during the summer (May to September).

Harlyn Bay has all you could want in a beach; sand, rock pools, dunes, safe seas, beginner friendly surf and summer lifeguards. There is a café at the north east end of the bay, next to the car park if you need nourishment or a surf school if you've got any extra energy to burn.

Watergate Bay is a beautiful two mile stretch of sand and a popular surfing spot. There are lifeguards in summer (May to September) and weekends up to October. Watergate Bay boasts a hotel, surf school and cafe, The Hangout, just south on the B3276.

Padstow Harbour is a picturesque port and the perfect place to enjoy fish and chips. It was made famous by the celebrity chef Rick Stein who still has a restaurant, bistro, cafe and chippy here. The harbour is busy with fishing boats and visitors alike in the summer with quick access across to Rock possible via the ferry.
