Standing at 420 meters tall, Brown Willy is the highest hill on Bodmin Moor in Cornwall.

The work of art reminds of this technology for oil and gas lanterns - invented by Goldsworthy Gurney in 1839 in this place and until the invention of electric light the brightest artificial light source - and of the "big boom" of the sun and planets on May 17th, 2000. Just east of the A39 Atlantic HIghway is the Helebridge Basin. Regeneration work has been taking place here. The basin has been dredged and the canalside has been cleared so that visitors can get an idea of what the area looked like when the canal was in use.

Once the ancient capital of Cornwall, Launceston is a market town with steep sided hills. It is often thought of as the gateway to Cornwall.

Launceston Castle was built shortly after the Norman Conquest in 1068. It's towering position high above the town means it can be seen from miles around. Launceston was once the capital of Cornwall but when this was changed to Bodmin, the castle fell into disrepair. It was used as a jail and then to host assizes, courts held in county towns presided over by a visiting judge.

The Old Laundry gives a glimpse into the canal's industrial past. Now self-catering holiday accommodation it was originally a saw mill, used to produce timber for the canal boats. As the use of canals decreased, the saw mill was repurposed as a laundry for the developing holiday trade. The grade II listed building was converted into four houses in the 1980s.

Bude Canal was built in 1823 to allow the transportation of mineral rich sand from Bude and the surrounding area inland to fertilize agricultural land. This revolutionised farming in the area and also allowed slate and granite to be transported to the sea. The canal was abandoned in 1891 and restoration is in progress.

Warbstow Bury is an Iron Age Hill Fort. which is the best preserved in the county. Two sentry boxes were positioned here in the Second World War where the Home Guard would keep watch for enemy aircraft. It is easily accessible from the road, although this would involve walking across a grassy area.
