Small, beautiful fishing town with a smuggling past. The cottages and the mill at the entrance to the town are very nice. We were there at low tide and the boats were lying in the mud.

Great XC type trail in a lovely Cornish woodland.

Pronounced Lost-with-ee-ul, this is Cornwall's antiques capital. The name is believed to come from the Cornish 'lostwydhyel' or 'the place at the tail of the forest'. On the bike, you will cross over the medieval bridge, the lowest crossing point of the river Fowey. There are plenty of places to eat in Lostwithiel as well as quirky shops and riverside parks if you want to rest your weary legs. Despite being a small town, there is a mainline train station here for trains to Plymouth or Penzance.

Set this up on the singletrack prior, just get the entry right avoid the granite pillars at the start you should be able to come in with air, then pump through all track to gain speed, slow down at the end of last undulations stops you ripping up the first real corner. Grin and enjoy. This section drains well and normally retains dry. Oh don't forget to look for deer if track is quiet.

After all the switchback climbs, this is the best descent at Cardinham Woods! The Cribbar trail weaves its way down the hillside using wide, supportive berms at each turn, and there's also some rollers inbetween to pump through for speed, or even get some air on! All in all, an exhilarating descent that makes all the pedalling worthwhile.

On the south coast of Cornwall lies Fowey, a small British town that is a popular day trip and holiday destination. It stretches a mile along the steep hills along the west bank of the River Fowey to its mouth in the English Channel. As a result of the numerous wars waged by King Edward I of England towards the end of the 13th century, the traditional Cinque Ports in south-east England were increasingly the target of enemy raids. Nestled in a ravine, Polperro is sheltered from much of the adverse weather along this stretch of coastline. Boasting a delightful jumble of fishermans’ cottages, quirky streets and a traditional harbour, it’s a picturesque village that’s great fun to explore.

Very tourist centric. Expensive. Good parking on the outskirts, not fun to drive through. Has a ferry to Mevagissey - best to book in advance.

In the village is the smuggler museum , which describes the history of the once very profitable smuggling on the south coast. At low tide, the harbor is dry and the boats are in an inclined position, or lie in the silt.
