1월 29, 2026, St Peter's Church, Peterchurch
The tall spire of St Peter's can be seen for miles, especially from the south and the hills that surround Peterchurch. It is also the last resting place of Pt Robert Jones VC, who was awarded the honour for a desperate action at Rorkes Drift.

1월 14, 2026, Snodhill Castle Ruins
Although there is not much left of the castle, this is an atmospheric place that is well worth the detour from the trail. It also looks like many of the stones from the castle were borrowed to build the nearby farm!

The banks may have caved in a little, but it gives this part of Rowland Vaughan's 'Trench Royal' canal a more natural feel, especially in the early sun.

In the picturesque hamlet of Turnastone, pause to look at England's oldest petrol station. Sadly no longer working but a charming little slice of history!

8월 10, 2023, St Peter's Church, Peterchurch
Traffic is light enough that you’re better sticking to the main B4348 that runs through the village rather than bothering with the narrow lane that runs parallel on the west side of the river.

2월 4, 2021, St Margaret's Church
St Margaret's is a simple Norman church that stands proud on the hillside at 800 feet (244 m). Its position gives it grandstand views of the Herefordshire Plain, the rolling pastures of the Golden Valley and to the hills of Dinedor, Aconbury and Garway. However, the finest vista is that of Wales' Black Mountains strung across the western horizon.

2월 4, 2021, St Peter's Church, Peterchurch
On the banks of the River Dore in Herefordshire's beautiful Golden Valley, Peterchurch is a gloriously located village for hillwalking. There are numerous trails that head into the woodland to the east and the gently rolling hill to the west. Views of Wales' Black Mountains are superb. The village's St Peter's Church has a fine spire of fibreglass, at one time the tallest such spire in the country. If your stomach is rumbling after a walk, the Nags Head pub and the Food for Thought Bistro are both good options.

2월 4, 2021, Arthur's Stone and Dorstone Church
Dorstone may well be one of the most ancient settlements in Herefordshire. To the north of the village is Arthur's Stone, a chamber tomb originating from between 3700 and 2700 BC, making it Herefordshire's oldest human structure. The village is the site of a former motte-and-bailey castle, now all but gone. It is an excellent area for hillwalking, with various trails that explore the Golden Valley's rolling countryside. The Pandy Inn is a walker-friendly pub that serves great food and offers accommodation.

2월 4, 2021, Snodhill Castle Ruins
Snodhill Castle is a romantic and picturesque ruin, perched above the tiny settlement of Snodhill in Herefordshire's Golden Valley. Recent investigations suggest it was one of the first castles in Britain to receive masonry defences in around 1100. Most castles at this time would have been constructed from wood. The castle's former might, coupled with its strategic position, would have made it a fortress of some importance. It has undoubtedly played a role in the various wars that have been fought in this border country through the ages.
