On the banks of the River Dore in Herefordshire's beautiful Golden Valley, Peterchurch is a gloriously located village for hillwalking. There are numerous trails that head into the woodland to the east and the gently rolling hill to the west. Views of Wales' Black Mountains are superb.

The village's St Peter's Church has a fine spire of fibreglass, at one time the tallest such spire in the country. If your stomach is rumbling after a walk, the Nags Head pub and the Food for Thought Bistro are both good options.

Traffic is light enough that you’re better sticking to the main B4348 that runs through the village rather than bothering with the narrow lane that runs parallel on the west side of the river.
