The Xandri pine is a monumental pinyoner pine (Pinus pinea in Latin) located in the territory of the rural park of Torre Negra in Sant Cugat del Vallès, about 250 years old (according to a dendrological analysis it germinated in 1774). The tree has a height of 23 meters, a trunk circumference of 3.20 meters and a trunk thickness of 3.60 meters. Its head has a width of 21 by 15 meters. It is called Xandri because it is located on land that was once owned by a farmer named Xandri

12월 5, 2022, Pi d'en Xandri
The Pi d'en Xandri is one of the oldest pines in Catalonia and an ecological, cultural and historical symbol of Sant Cugat. It is estimated that he was born around the year 1774, at the time of Mozart, Kant and Napoleon Bonaparte, now about 248 years ago. It is a stone pine (pinus pinea) and is located in the Torre Negra rural park. It has a considerable height -23 meters- and a trunk of 3.20 meters in diameter. Its crown is 21 meters wide and has a peculiar shape, like a parasol, with a wayward, half-naked branch. The Pi d'en Xandri lost part of its branches due to the snow that accumulated on Christmas night in the year 62, when a formidable snowfall covered Catalonia in white. In 1997 some vandals tried to saw it off and set it on fire. It was necessary to graft a piece of live trunk so that the sap could circulate again and it was held with the trunks that surround it today to facilitate its healing.

A stretch of road with beautiful views of Barcelona. It is one of the climbs in the area with fewer cars, so highly recommended! In winter, be careful in the northern part of Sant Cugat, which is more humid and cold.

The Pi d'en Xandri, a pine (Pinus pinea) from the Torre Negra Park, is one of the oldest pines in Catalonia and an ecological, cultural and historical symbol of Sant Cugat. It is estimated to be around 235 years old. It has an approximate height of 23 meters and a trunk of 3.20 meters in diameter. Its glass is 21 meters wide in the shape of an umbrella. The Pi d'en Xandri lost some of its branches due to the heavy snowfall that fell on Christmas Day 1962 and in 1997 some vandals tried to cut it down and burn it. It has been secured with wooden posts to give it stability.

9월 22, 2022, Ermita de Sant Medir
The hermitage of Sant Medir is a place from which many hiking trails start. It provides a very pleasant space to take a break before continuing the march. There is a water fountain, picnic areas and shaded areas. It can also be reached by car. Going up the path, past the car park, there is a restaurant called Masía Can Jané.

The hermitage of San Medín is a sanctuary located in the Collserola mountain range, in the municipality of San Cugat del Vallés (Catalonia). Every March 3, the traditional meeting of San Medín is held there. It is close to the old Roman road from Egara (Terrasa) to Barcino (Barcelona), which passing through Castrum Octavianum (Sant Cugat) entered the Collserola mountain range through the Gausac valley (or Sant Medir valley). Formerly called San Emeterio, the hermitage is of Romanesque origin, although due to the transformations it has undergone, almost no original vestige remains. It has a rectangular plan with a sacristy. Outside there is a belfry bell tower and the entrance door with a semicircular arch, where there is an engraved relief dated 1447 with images of the Holy Trinity. In the year 962 there is the first documented reference to the hermitage as property of the monastery of San Cucufato and as one of the five parishes of the term. The monks of the monastery kept it under their care until the year 1446.

It is located at the southern end of the Collserola mountain range, on Passeig de les Aigües, below Sant Pere Mártir. It can be accessed via Passeig de les Aigües from the walkway that goes over the road from Sarriá to Vallvidrera (BV-1462) and also from Plaza Mireia, in the municipality of Esplugues de Llobregat, passing through the wooden walkway next to the Sant Pere Mártir water tank. From the viewpoint you can see part of the Barcelona plain, the Llobregat delta and the mountains that surround it. A few years ago, when the site was restored, some specimens of cypresses were added to the three already existing ones, which give the viewpoint its name.

Beware of slippery roads in the morning, during the winter on the Sant Cugat side. The Sant Cugat side has a lot of tree cover and is significantly colder/wetter. The Barcelona side is fine however.

Initially, it was a hermitage built by the Salesians, inaugurated in 1886 during the visit of Saint John Bosco to Barcelona. The construction of the Expiatory Church of the Sacred Heart, designed by Enric Sagnier, began in 1902 and ended in 1961. It is a monumental building with neo-Gothic architecture and crowned by a bronze statue of the Sacred Heart. An elevator allows you to go up to the top of the expiatory temple, 575 m above sea level, from where you can enjoy views of the city of Barcelona.
