Superb resort, the mountains around are magnificent!

Very nice town. At the back of town there is a great campsite where you can buy fresh baked goods from the bakery truck every morning at 8am.

Mountain, nature, calm and peaceful….. what could be better?

Val-d’Isère is a picturesque little high mountain village nestled in the foothills of the Vanoise massif. Long sidelined, the village experienced the development of skiing and its resort in the 1930s. Its ski area is now combined with that of Tignes under the name “Espace Killy” or “Val-d’Isère Tignes”. In its historic center, the old stones and slate roofs give the village all its authenticity. In the suburbs, the many hotels and restaurants bear witness to its economic development.

At 2,760 meters above sea level, the Passage de Picheru is a pass in the Grande Sassière nature reserve. It gives access to the eponymous lake and spectacular views of the great peaks that surround it.

Lac de la Sassière and its placid turquoise waters is a dam lake dug at 2,460 meters in the eponymous nature reserve. Cherished by families during summer walks, the lake is also one of the favorite places of marmots on sunny days. If during your walk you hear whistling, don't be surprised: the groundhogs have probably spotted you.
