Piornal is the highest village in Extremadura and one of the best natural viewpoints for viewing the cherry blossoms. It also offers its own organized routes during the Cherry Blossom Festival. The most well-documented route starting directly from Piornal is the one organized by the Jerte Valley Sports Promotion Association. It's a circular route that passes through some of the most beautiful landscapes:

Incredible town, full of history and magical corners

Tejeda de Tiétar is a peaceful gateway to the La Vera region, surrounded by holm oaks, oak trees, and olive groves, overlooking the Tiétar River. Its historic center, with its whitewashed houses, holds treasures such as a Renaissance church and ancient Roman remains.

The Parque de la Isla in Plasencia is one of the main green lungs of the city and a perfect place to enjoy nature. Located in the urban section of the Jerte River, the park is a river island that stretches for almost 4 kilometers.

From here, you can see the Jerte reservoir nestled between the Gordo and Camocho mountains. The views are immense.

The road turns upwards after passing the small town of Cabrero and the views of the Jerte Valley begin to open up with the Sierra de la Cabrera in the distance.

A very pleasant climb of 9.2 km from Valdastillas to Piornal gaining 525 m with a comfortable gradient of 5.7%. Numerous curves to enjoy towards the summit at 1,150 meters above sea level.
