Piornal is the highest village in Extremadura and one of the best natural viewpoints for viewing the cherry blossoms. It also offers its own organized routes during the Cherry Blossom Festival. The most well-documented route starting directly from Piornal is the one organized by the Jerte Valley Sports Promotion Association. It's a circular route that passes through some of the most beautiful landscapes:

Excellent views of the Jerte Valley. The road is narrow but in very good condition. You reach the sign from the Garganta la Olla mountain pass, which is about 15 km long, with an average elevation gain of 800 m at a 5% gradient. This slope is very easy to walk, with beautiful stretches through trees and very little traffic.

A very special place, with spectacular views of the Valle del Jerte

Garganta la Olla has a privileged environment surrounded by mountains, natural gorges.

Spectacular views from this viewpoint over the Valle del Jerte. In this place you can also see the melancholic sculptures in memory of the forgotten, a 2008 work by the artist Francisco Cedenilla.

This is one of the most spectacular waterfalls in the area. It's only a short walk from the road, but if you're with a bike, you'll need to leave it on the road or ride up a steep path.

This is undoubtedly one of the most beautiful and impressive waterfalls in the Piornal region. The Caozo waterfall is a wonderful place where you can appreciate nature at its best. It can be reached from Valdastillas following the marked route PR-CC 32.

Nice and typical town in the interior of Extremadura with all the services. Also noteworthy are the Church of San Lorenzo Mártir and a few kilometers from here the natural pools of Las Pilatillas and the El Calderón waterfall, both on the Garganta Mayor.
