Cortegada is a small municipality located in the province of Ourense, Galicia, with a population of around 1,000 inhabitants. It is located in the Ribeiro region, famous for the production of its wines, especially the white Ribeiro wines, and is located near the Miño River, surrounded by a privileged natural environment. The municipality is known for its thermal waters, with healing properties, which have attracted visitors since ancient times. In addition to its thermal heritage, Cortegada is historically linked to the trade of the Ribeiro region and to the pilgrims of the Camino de Santiago. Today, it remains a place of great interest for those looking to enjoy its thermal waters and the natural environment of the Ribeiro region, famous for its vineyards and quality wines.

Being in Cortegada, it is not far from the Cortegada Hot Springs, which offers the possibility of combining a day of relaxation in nature with a visit to the hot springs to take advantage of their healing properties.

The Rúa Brouza Brey Recreation Area features picnic tables, shaded areas and areas where families and groups of friends can relax and enjoy meals outdoors. Grills or barbecues can often be found, allowing meals to be prepared on site, a popular activity among local visitors.

Just getting close you will notice the strong smell of sulphur, the water comes out hot and at the bottom and surroundings everything is yellow. The thermal waters of Baños de Cortegada are famous for their medicinal properties. They are believed to be beneficial for rheumatic, dermatological and respiratory problems, among others. The thermal water springs out at temperatures around 38°C and has been traditionally used both in therapeutic treatments and in relaxing baths.

The Miño River is the longest river in Galicia, with a length of around 315 km. It rises in the Meira mountain range, in Lugo, and flows into the Atlantic Ocean, between A Guarda (Spain) and Caminha (Portugal), forming the natural border between both countries in its final stretch. Along its course, the Miño crosses very varied landscapes, from mountains and valleys to vineyards and forests. It is also famous for its farming areas and for the production of wine with the Rías Baixas designation of origin.
