In winter, with snow and ice, this marshland has a mystical quality; the beaver dam and the trees felled by beavers add to the atmosphere. The boardwalk without railings is quite an experience in ice and snow... think penguins! 😅 In my opinion, the circular path around Lake Madlitz is not suitable for people with mobility impairments! Also, watch out for holes in the ground.

Anyone traveling by kayak or canoe on the Spree and looking for a place that offers not only rest but also peace should stop in Neubrück. Right next to the bridge, where the village quietly hides behind old trees, there's a small rest area for water hikers – simple, honest, just right. Two covered picnic tables invite you to take a breather, have a snack, and tell stories. A simple spot, perfect for a night under the stars – free of charge and with the invitation to stay only for what you need: a night, a bit of wind, a starry sky perhaps. There's a portable toilet, no drinking water – but don't worry: right next door, in Mr. Hartmann's small café, you can refill your water bottles. And if you're smart, you'll treat yourself to an ice cream or an ice-cold drink – here, in the shade of the village, it tastes like a little vacation. Neubrück isn't a place for great expectations, but it is one for small miracles. The water flows gently, evening slowly approaches, and if you're lucky, ducks, geese, or other animals stroll along, as if they know someone just wants to be here. A place to return to—or to move on, with a light heart.
