A beautiful photo opportunity

During our heathland walk we found some nice resting places and they were all clean and free of rubbish. 👍🏼 I wish it was the same for all resting places, unfortunately we have experienced a lot of carelessness in other places.

Swolgen (locally pronounced as Zwollege) is a church village in the municipality of Horst aan de Maas, in the north of the Dutch province of Limburg. The village has over 1,290 inhabitants. Until 2010 it belonged to the former municipality of Meerlo-Wanssum and until 1969 to the former municipality of Meerlo. Places of interest: • Kasteeltje De Gun, a farm since 1860, on the Kasteelweg in the hamlet of Gun. • The Sint-Lambertuskerk, with a 15th-century choir, largely rebuilt in 1952. • The Mariakapel in the hamlet of Legert. • The Mariakapel on the Donkstraat. Nature and landscape: Swolgen is located on the edge of higher sandy soils, at an altitude of approximately 20 metres. In the south, on higher cover sand (up to 26 metres) lies the Tienraijse and Swolgenderheide, a former heathland and drifting sand area, now largely planted with coniferous forest, but also with a number of heathland remnants and a few fens. Adjacent to this in the east is the Schuitwater nature reserve, a former arm of the Maas, now extending into the Broekhuizer Molenbeek. In the north lies an agricultural area, where one finds asparagus and mushroom cultivation, among other things. The Pieterpad passes through Swolgen.
