The church was built in the 15th century and remodeled and completely decorated in the Baroque period. The tower façade was completed during this period. The main altar, which dates back to the first third of the 18th century, is noteworthy. There is an important collection of paintings hanging on the walls of the church and in the sacristy. Among them, the depiction of Saint Catherine of Alexandria, which is located in the presbytery, stands out.

The Church of San Bartolomé (Spanish Iglesia de San Bartolomé) is the oldest church in Logroño, Spain. Its construction dates from the 12th century, so it partially preserves the Romanesque style in the head and the first part of the tower, and continued in the 13th century with the Gothic development, with the magnificent arched portal, which contains some Romanesque sculptures that tell the life of Saint Bartholomew and other biblical passages. It has been a listed building since 1866. The Church of San Bartholomé is considered landmark No. 9 on the Way of Saint James, a World Heritage Site. The stone bridge is one of the four bridges that cross the Ebro in Logroño. It is also called the bridge of San Juan de Ortega. The current structure was built in 1884 after the previous bridge collapsed in 1871.
