La Silla del Cid is an imposing mountain formation in the province of Alicante, located between the municipalities of Petrel and Monforte del Cid. This mountain range occupies an approximate area of 51 km² and is part of the Sierra del Cid and Maigmó Natural Area.

With the suggestive name of La Silla del Cid, this 1,147-meter-high summit is one of the most emblematic peaks in the Medio Vinalopó region due to the fantastic views from the top.

Petrer Castle is a fortification of Muslim origin built in the 12th century on top of the old part of the city. Its silhouette, visible from afar, is very picturesque due to its large square crenellated tower.

The castle is located on the highest point of Petrer. It was built by the Moors at the end of the 12th century. It offers a wide, beautiful panoramic view over the flatter "level". A steep path leads up to the castle, which can be used by bike. Maybe you have to push a bit uphill. A detour through the small streets of the old town, below the castle, is worth it!
