Beautiful entrance to the fortress.

The Devil's Stones really blew my mind. I'm always amazed when I see these incredibly interesting megalithic tombs and always wonder how people managed to do them in the past without cranes and hydraulics.

Hümmling Nature Park awaits you with moors, forests, heaths, and hills. It covers an area of almost 580 square kilometers in northwest Lower Saxony. The area has been protected since 2015 to preserve the moor and heath landscapes with their unique flora and fauna. Numerous hiking trails lead you through the soothing landscape and its fascinating history. On your tours, you'll travel through time – from burial mounds to baroque castles. A mill rebuilt after the war.

This is one of the better/larger megalithic tombs in the region. As far as I can see, it is well looked after, there is now a small seating area with a roof for 6 people, so you can take a break there.

Nice marina on the coastal canal. The asphalt road leads to the next bridge, from where you can drive up to Hümmling. Another turnoff: Eichengrumd/Schulstraße towards Bockhorst and Esterweger Dose.
