The ruins of Castillo de Mirabel are an imposing defensive fortress built on the western hills of the Monfragüe National Park. If you choose to go up to the castle, you will be treated to wonderful views of the Tagus Valley landscape below.

Puente del Cardenal was built around 1450 to allow the creation of a trade route across the Tagus River. Located at the foot of the Monfragüe Castle, the historic bridge is one of the highlights of the Monfragüe Biosphere Reserve.

On the outskirts of Portezuelo stands, dominating the surrounding landscape, the Castillo de Portezuelo, or as it is better known, El Portillo or Marmionda. The defensive castle dates from the 12th century during the Almohad Muslim occupation, controlling a gorge and access road to the Tierras de Coria.
