A village with a great old town!

The Batuecas monastery, or San José Desert, is occupied by the Order of the Discalced Carmelites. It is located in a privileged environment, right in the Las Batuecas valley and next to the river of the same name. It is one of the most emblematic places in the natural park.

One of the most beautiful towns in Spain with a very particular charm, one of those towns that deserves to be visited and explore its picturesque streets. Located in the heart of the Sierra de Francia Park, the town also offers many options for trails and paths to explore this beautiful Natural Park.

Just 4 km from the beautiful town of La Alberca and within the Sierra de Francia Park is the San Marcos lagoon, a very quiet paradise surrounded by a wonderful landscape that is worth visiting.

Not only does it give its name to the wonderful Natural Park, but its peak at 1,727 meters above sea level offers the best panoramic views in all directions. Right there, at the top, is the Sanctuary of Our Lady of Peña de Francia of the Dominican Order that is worth visiting. And of course, you cannot return without having taken the obligatory photos at the viewpoint and the Balcony of Santiago, two panoramic points par excellence. You can get here using the means that you like best, either by car, bike or walking, the last modality will give you several alternatives of very picturesque trails from the town of La Alberca or from Camping Sierra de Francia.
