One of the most magical places in the eastern Pyrenees, surrounded by alpine meadows, fir trees, and the two lakes that give it its name. At almost 2,350 meters above sea level, the refuge offers food, accommodation, and postcard-perfect views. It's a gateway to the Perafita pass and the cross-border routes with Andorra. By mountain bike, the climb from Cap del Rec is demanding but spectacular: a wide track, rocky sections, and sustained gradients. The best approach is to take it easy, maintain a steady cadence, and savor the final reward: the reflection of the mountains in the lakes, with the sound of the wind and cows as your only companions.

It's an impressive view from up here and the trip is definitely worth it.

Puerto de Envalira is the highest paved port in the Pyrenees with its 2,408 m altitude. It is a spectacular port that connects Andorra with France in the north of the Pyrenean country. It is clearly a MUST for all cycling and port lovers. It has 2 aspects that are very similar in hardness. In both cases, it is a very long pass with shallow slopes and some breaks, which make climbing easier. I like the Andorran side better. Wonderful panoramic views of a Pyrenean mountain circus. As these are very deep views, the photos with the circus in the background are beautiful.

The northern slope of the Envalira pass, once you have passed Pas de la Casa, has wonderful and very wide views of the ski slopes and the lifts that are spread along the slopes. There is also a wide cirque of mountains, behind which Spain is located.

Before arriving at the port of Envalira, you can see good views of the mountains, both those on the Andorran side and those on the French side.

Gravel road that provides an alternative to the main road and that is taken from Les Bordes d'Envalira. It circulates on one side of the river, avoiding the stream itself.
