7월 30, 2023, Canal de Izas
The trail saves a small slope to leave the glacial hollow where the mountain lagoon is and begins a fantastic descent through the geological wonders of the Izas glacial valley. The path makes a long journey to the curve of the Vuelta de Iserias pass and finally descends to the meadows of the Canal de Izas, near the Las Negras waterfall. Remains of paint from the GR-11 (old) remain on the rocks, before the main itinerary of the popular Senda Pirenaica was established in the stage between Candanchú and Sallent de Gállego through the neighboring Canal Roya.

7월 30, 2023, La Moleta (2.572 m)
The path climbs the rocky slope directly towards the summit, avoiding small steps and stony ledges. On the ascent there are stone milestones that deviate to the left and lead directly to the Moleta pass. On foggy or blizzard days this section can be difficult to navigate, on the ground it is solid rock and the route is not very clear in some areas. The access to the top looks for a channel on the north face that avoids the walls of the crown of the summit and continues through a panoramic visor surrounding the ring of the mountain. The atmosphere is fantastic with the Midi in the background, the Aisa and Aspe mountains, the Peña Collarada, the Anayet and its cut of volcanic pitons, the marble pits of Los Infiernos, the mass of Balaitus and the high peaks of the Aragonese Pyrenees. La Moleta is a sculpted summit, it is surrounded by a unique rocky nipple, similar to the one its older sister Peña Collarada has. The descent follows the same path through the aerial visor of the north face to the ascent channel, then following the path that goes directly down to the Moleta pass.

7월 30, 2023, Canfranc Estación
The starting point is the urban center of Canfranc Estación, where is the entrance to the old international railway station that was connecting the Canfranc Valley with the French slope between 1928 and 1970, when the track stopped working permanently. The historic building was declared an Asset of Cultural Interest and is currently a hotel and exhibition center. The trail runs along the main street of the town in a southerly direction and at the exit it turns to the left on the bridge of the Canal Roya hydroelectric plant that crosses the Aragón river. The path of the trail continues along the Picaube dirt track. At the beginning of the lane there is a panel with local routes and information on trail running itineraries in the Canfranc Valley, identified by colors and numbering. The route chosen to go up to the summit of La Moleta and return through Iserias and the Canal de Izas is number 28. There are also QR codes and a general map. The mountain track draws some sharp curves, first the turnoff for the Ruta de los Melancólicos appears on the left and shortly after the path indicated to La Moleta and the Ibón de Ip leaves on the right. The main lane continues straight ahead towards Picaube and Casita Blanca, an old forest refuge built during reforestation on the slopes of Los Arañones. On the hills along the way there are remains of old military forts from the last two centuries of warfare.

This whole area is the remains of a large and old volcanic caldera. From here you can clearly see the remains of the volcanic chimney that form the Anayet peak.

These lakes, located at an altitude of 2,233 m, feed the Canal Roya river, which in turn is a tributary of the Aragón river. Bathing in them is not recommended due to the high presence of leeches. All the Aragonese lakes are protected as they are included in the Inventory of Singular Wetlands, so any activity that could modify the quality of their waters is prohibited. While bathing is not specifically mentioned, it is understood that bathing with chemicals on the skin such as sunscreens, deodorants, perfumes or creams is negatively affecting the quality of the water, so it cannot be done. You can read the protection decree and the list of wetlands included here: http://www.boa.aragon.es/cgi-bin/EBOA/BRSCGI?CMD=VEROBJ&MLKOB=558856590404

There are numerous pilgrims who pass through the town every year following the Aragonese section of the Camino Frances de Santiago. This route lived its splendor in the Middle Ages, five centuries of pilgrimage that left wonderful stories and legends, as well as an artistic and cultural legacy of extraordinary richness.

A refreshing place in the middle of the road. If it has water, one can bathe in the pool that forms at its feet. You are not afraid of cold water though.

Shelter not guarded but open and reasonably clean. Approximately one hour from Canfranc, . There is no water in it. Magnificent views to the North with the Lecherines, Pico Tortiellas and Pico Lecherín and to the East towards the Ip Valley and the Collarada massif.

The Canal Roya valley is a flawless glacial basin, a model of the natural excavation of Quaternary ice as it moved into the lower valleys. The best exhibition of glacial creations is the Cirque de la Rinconada, a picture of the wild life of the mountains.

The trail runs through the glacial reliefs of Canal Roya and reaches the base of the La Rinconada wall, where a waterfall falls when the Anayet lakes have excess water. Although it looks like a terrible wall, the layout of the path makes good use of the terraces and the climb is quite comfortable for what it looks like. The final section crosses the edge of the walls and enters the plain where the Anayet lakes are located. The broken summit of the Midi d'Ossau seems to sprout from the surface of the lake and around it the volcanic crown of Anayet and its jewels of mineral colors surrounding the enormous lacustrine crater, a unique place.
