The former grain mill, once responsible for many villages, lies on the southern, Lauenburg side of the Bille River and is now a well-known inn. The historic mill building is a rectangular, single-story timber-framed structure built on a granite foundation and has a hipped roof covered with clay tiles. The undershot waterwheel, renewed in 1985 and measuring 3.50 meters in diameter, is mounted on the gable wall facing the Bille. A double row of boards protects the timber framing from splashing water. A separate millrace leads from the Bille to the mill. The wooden weir, consisting of two sluice gates, is built over the Bille, aligned with the northern long wall. The interior of the mill still largely reflects its original layout: on the river side, behind the external waterwheel, is the mill floor with the milling mechanism, and in front of it, the flour threshing floor. Behind this are storage rooms and the former stable. The other half of the building contains the former living quarters, the kitchen, and the large, open fireplace built in the center of the house, as well as the guest rooms facing the street. https://www.stormarnlexikon.de/grandermuehle/

The restaurant offers unpretentious, authentic Italian cuisine in the Grander Mill's cozy "il caminetto" (window). Behind the beautiful half-timbered facade with its countless mullioned windows, a blend of different stylistic periods awaits. The furniture is lovingly collected from abroad or crafted according to antique designs. Lamps from Italy, fabrics and tableware from France, and traditional craftsmanship from Northern Germany and Denmark. In the mornings, guests are treated to an imaginative, lord-of-the-manor-style breakfast buffet with many small delicacies in the opulently decorated barn. Wooden beams, white linen, mirrored walls, acrylic lamps, and chandeliers create a contrast between history and modernity. The Grander Mill, dating from the 13th century, is a watermill in the Duchy of Lauenburg district (Schleswig-Holstein) on the banks of the Bille river in the Rotenbek district of the Kuddewörde community. A beautiful area in the middle of Wentorf. The former tank training area is a great place for running and hiking. Also good for cycling.
