Memories of the Königsborn III / IV mine, ventilation shaft VI, also known as the "Friedrich" shaft. In 1899, mining took hold in what is now the municipality of Bönen. The Königsborn III / IV mine quickly developed into a large mine. In the 1960s, up to 5,000 employees mined around 1.5 million tons of coal annually. With the steadily increasing production, the previous ventilation system was no longer sufficient. It was decided to sink a ventilation shaft with a diameter of 6.50 meters in the south wing of the local construction site in the direction of the "Fliericher Sprung". This ventilation shaft was designated as shaft no. VI and also called the Friedrich shaft.

Very pleasant deciduous forest (nice and bright and shady in summer!), where you can find a cosy pond, many benches and also a shelter

"Mergelbergteich" is the name of this beautiful little lake in the forest. Incredibly quiet and secluded - and that on a Saturday in August! We quickly found a shady bench, perfect for a break with a view. Here you are in the middle of the forest, there are numerous - even narrow! - hiking trails, but some are too swampy for sneakers even now in summer 😁. Shelter right by the lake

NSG Sandbachtal A beautiful piece of nature. Undulating terrain, beautiful views, orchards and forest paths. The paths are easy to hike but also easy to cycle.
