Beautiful 14th century tower

Here the famous Lady of Brassempouy was discovered in 1894, today attested as the first human face.

Located on the outskirts of Orthez, the farm offers farmhouse cheese and organic dairy products. A visit to the farm and a direct sale are possible (from Tuesday to Saturday from 2:30 p.m. to 6 p.m. for the latter).

A short climb of about 1.5 km with maximum gradients of 11%. It's a nice little climb to test your legs.

Shortly after the Château de Beyris, the pilgrimage route goes straight on along a dirt road. There are plaques hanging on a tree with good wishes for pilgrims. A soothing motivation on a hot day. The steep descent down to Labsale is more suitable for cyclists. Both paths meet again below.

An old defense tower as a remnant of a castle from the Middle Ages. The remains of the moat are an architectural example of the fortifications of the time. The tower is open at certain times and certainly offers a great view. We got there too early.

Dear Herbert, that's a nice reminder of this beautiful section of the Way of St. James, which we also sweated along today!

Very nice stretch on quiet side roads. P.S. Under the imaged palm tree, it got me on my 1,400 km tour across France: My only 'breakdown' caused by their own mishap. The chain had jumped. As a souvenir lies since then, carved to the tool, palm branch in the bicycle cellar.
