The Marc Seguin Suspension Bridge in Tournon-sur-Rhône is a 19th-century engineering masterpiece and one of the oldest suspension bridges in Europe. A stroll over the Rhône offers impressive views of the river and the surrounding vineyards. Tournon's old town boasts charming alleyways, historic buildings, and a Renaissance palace. Wine lovers can sample local wines from the Cornas and Saint-Joseph regions. The combination of engineering, nature, and history makes this place an unforgettable experience. By the way, cycling is prohibited and police patrol the area!

I just rode the ViaRhôna from September 3rd to 12th, between Romans and Sète. Beautiful scenery and villages. But the track quality is very uneven. Sometimes excellent, with impeccable surface and signage. Sometimes deplorable, shared tracks not maintained, sporadic signage, we go around in circles in some towns... And the biggest hassle is the train ride back, with no chutes in the underground stairs when changing platforms. Unpack the panniers, carry the (electric) bikes, and depending on the carriage, climb three steps! Thanks, SNCF.

Place of passage, life or vacation, Tain-l'Hermitage is known for Valrhona chocolate, the terraced vineyards with renowned appellations and the famous N7. The Marc Seguin suspension bridge, hailed for its technical innovation at the time, now allows you to cross the Rhône with dry feet! Until the 19th century, you had to take a flat-bottomed ferry to reach the other side.

The Marc-Seguin footbridge was built by Marc Seguin between 1847 and 1849. It is a wider and higher version of the first suspension bridge he had built next door in 1825 (destroyed in 1965). The footbridge, formerly a road bridge, has been used solely as a pedestrian bridge and then also as a cyclist bridge since the construction of the modern Gustave Toursier bridge in 1958. The building has been listed as a historic monument since 1985.

Remodeled in the 19th century, this castle was built on the ruins of an old fortified house which belonged to the castellany of Vals. Since the 2000s, it has been owned by a private family that offers a premium bed and breakfast. Located on a private peninsula surrounded by the Galaure, which forms 2 remarkable meanders, the Château de Rochetaillée welcomes you to its gîtes and guest rooms. Accessible by road by crossing an old metal bridge, the estate is located on a medieval site of more than eight hectares. The castle was remodeled in the 19th century. Built on the ruins and foundations of an old fortified house forming part of the powerful castellany of Vals, today almost forgotten…. remains some vestiges of a beautiful epic.
