This charming 16th-century village is surrounded by the Marmanu and Sorba forests. The village once marked the end of the long Mare è Monti Livantinu hiking trail. The route now extends to Vivario. Don't miss the Neptune Fountain in the village center.

The Marmano forest is characteristic of the high altitude forests found in Corsica. It reveals many species such as beech, pectin fir, maritime and lariccio pines. Open your nostrils wide to smell this unique environment.

The Strette and Inzecca gorges further east come from the Fiurmorbo river. These canyon-shaped gorges stretch for more than 13 kilometers and offer extraordinary landscapes that can be admired while traveling the narrow and winding D344 from Ghisoni.

In this magnificent Corsican village you find a quite spectacular fountain called Neptune. This original statue was created by the sculptor Vital-Gabriel Dubray (1813-1892) at the request of the Ducel foundry for their commercial catalog. This is why we find the same model in many cities in France as well as in South America, in Rio de Janeiro for example. The fountain was completed in August 1867. The village of Ghisoni has a website where all the services offered by the village are listed. With its 1,311 meters of altitude, the Col de Sorba is one of my favorite passes in Southern Corsica. The surface is exceptional, as is the beauty of the landscapes. The descent, whether on one side or another of the pass, provides an unspeakable pleasure. Landscapes of mountains and forests pass by at the right speed, thanks to the winding curves of the road. Be careful though!
