Beautiful Cathedral of Saint-Etienne in Toulouse

It is a famous monument that does not go unnoticed. The Capitol of Toulouse and its square were built in 1190. The project was launched under the direction of the architect Guillaume Cammas. The keep, in turn, was built in 1525. The aim was to ensure the protection of the city's archives. This also involved the safe storage of gunpowder. At the time, there were fears that the Spanish would attack and invade Languedoc. In fact, a war was raging between Charles V and Francis I.

Built in 1525, the building was used to store the gunpowder and archives that guaranteed the city's freedom. Because of its defensive appearance, Toulouse residents usually call it the keep. It is impossible to miss it between the majestic Capitole, the metro station and the shops.
