Located at the gates of the Haut-Jura regional natural park, Champagnole is also considered the “pearl of the Jura”. Perched at an altitude of 540 meters on the banks of the Ain, the town is located in a wonderful natural setting. There is also an archaeological museum due to the discovery of remains on Mont Rivel.

The Pont de l'Épée bridge spans the Ain river. When the sun is at its zenith, the color of the water is magnificent. The view of the river and the weir located downstream deserves a short break.

At the source of the Ain, you will find footbridges and interpretation panels to help you navigate and understand the site. A beautiful and relaxing place to take a break from your run.

go down the path towards the source of the elder and you will find a tributary of the Aine with a small power station (not so ugly as the one at the jump of the Aine)
