Bougarber is a Béarnaise bastide whose name Bourg Garbè means 'gerbier town'. Located on the Pont Long plain and at the foot of the hill where the castle is located with a breathtaking view of the Pyrenees.

A historical monument of the 12th century, the chapel was saved by an association "Les Amis de Caubin" in 1966 which completed its restoration in 1974. Musical events have been held there ever since. Note that picnic tables and an oratory are present on the other side of the road.

Sauvelade Abbey was founded by Benedictines in 1127 and later taken over by the Cistercian order.
