The construction of the Calais Town Hall was decided upon following the merger of the municipalities of Calais and Saint-Pierre. Work began in 1911 under the direction of the Dunkirk architect Louis Debrouwer. It is a precursor to the style, using reinforced concrete for reinforcement and red bricks as the cladding. Work was suspended during the First World War. Work on the Calais Town Hall was completed in 1923, and was officially inaugurated in 1925. The style is regionalist, with an architectural blend of Flemish and Renaissance styles.
