A veritable green lung of Calais, the Guînes state forest covers nearly 785 hectares. The numerous pine forests were planted there after World War II to reforest an area destroyed by the German army.

Located 15 kilometers from Calais, this small town boasts a rich historical heritage. It was not far from here that Francis I and Henry VIII met for the "Interview at the Field of the Cloth of Gold." In 1785, its national forest also served as the landing site for the first flight over the sea. Don't miss the Clock Tower in its center.

The Guînes national forest has several fun trails for mountain biking. This is one of them.

The Voie Verte between Coulogne and Guînes is a pleasant route designed for cyclists, hikers and families in search of nature. This path runs along old railway lines and crosses varied landscapes, between fields, forests and meadows typical of Pas-de-Calais. Easy to access and flat, it is perfect for a family walk, while enjoying the calm of the countryside.
