Plittersdorf 근처의 Altrhein은 19세기에 라인강의 직선화(Rheinbegradigung이라고도 함)로 인해 주요 흐름에서 분리된 라인강의 옛 지류입니다. 오늘날 Altrhein은 Plittersdorf 근처의 라인강 범람원에 있는 조용하고 대부분 느리게 흐르거나 고여 있는 수역입니다. 범람원 숲, 초원 및 작은 수역으로 둘러싸여 있습니다. 이 자연 그대로의 풍경은 왜가리와 백조와 같은 새와 다양한 어종과 같은 많은 동식물 종에게 중요한 서식지를 제공합니다. 과거에는 라인강이 Plittersdorf를 바로 지나갔고 종종 홍수를 일으켰습니다. 직선화로 인해 강줄기가 바뀌었고 Altrhein은 옛 라인강의 "잔재"로 보존되었습니다. 오늘날 주로 생태학적 중요성을 가지며 사람들을 위한 휴양지로도 사용됩니다.

A fairly large gravel pit lake on the French side near the PlIttersdorf ferry. Many recreational activities include a campsite, swimming bays, fishing spots, etc. Dredging is still in progress here. This lake (“gravière Epple”) is therefore not as idyllic in atmosphere as the smaller neighboring lake (“gravière de Munchhausen”).

This is where the Sauer River, coming from the Vosges Mountains, flows into the Rhine. The estuary delta is a large floodplain with a wide variety of amphibians and birds – protected since 1997.

Camping Municipal - in France, these are the municipal/city campsites that offer a certain standard at reasonable prices. "Supervised swimming in summer. Campsite, equipped and accessible for disabled people. 135 pitches with electrical connection, kotas, pods, campétoile and tipis are available. Many hikes through forest and field paths, bike tours, fishing, and water sports activities (sailing, canoeing, ..) possible nearby. Tourist information available.
