I swam here often when I was young. Of course you got there by bike. The Fahner See is located in the municipality of Au am Rhein. The paddling club has its clubhouse nearby.

Beautiful campsite with a new washhouse right on the lake. Net reception. The lake has a sandy beach, the water is clear and clean. Lots of activity in summer. Reservations recommended.

“There are pictures that say “swimming is forbidden” because of danger to life. Does anyone know more??” Locals haven't noticed the signs yet. I recently asked the question to someone I met there.

the beach marked here is NOT public but private (club, Paddelclub Illingen). Entering is tolerated at most. If you want to sunbathe or swim here, you run the risk of being sent away.
