A very impressive monastery complex.

The organ, originally dating from 1617, is worth seeing. The body is carved from wood.

The thermal baths are definitely worth a visit. Beautiful grounds all around.

The modern extension at the back is now a bit old and does not contribute to the beautification of the historic part of the building. More than a dozen warm springs (43-63 °C) already invited the Romans to bathe. The oldest thermal bath in France was built here in the 18th century. St. Columban of Luxeuil (died 615) founded the Luxovium monastery (patron saint: St. Peter) at the foot of the Vosges Mountains around 590. Columban soon received the requested protection of the Merovingian royal family and the local nobility for his foundation. In 610, however, Columban was expelled by Theuderic, King of Austria and Burgundy, and fled to Italy. After the monastery was destroyed by the Saracens and many of its monks were murdered around 732, it was restored as a Benedictine monastery by Charlemagne. The Benedictine monastery of Luxeuil joined the Congregation of Saint-Vannes in 1634, and the monastery was closed in 1790 as a result of the French Revolution. (Wikipedia)

From here Plombières-les-Bains is governed, nicknamed the City of a thousand balconies, was at different times and especially in the 19th century a very fashionable spa town under Louis-Philippe I and Napoleon III . The inhabitants are called Plombinois. The city has 27 hot springs that are weakly mineralized but rich in trace elements. The waters of Plombières flow at temperatures between 57 and 84 degrees, ideal for relaxing, they are also indicated in the treatment of digestive and rheumatic diseases. The geological conditions have made Plombières-les-Bains a spa town since Roman antiquity.

The parish church of Saint-Amé and Saint-Blaise was rebuilt on a project by Abbé Balland, with the financial support of Emperor Napoleon III, from 1857 to 1860, replacing the first church of the 18th century, considered dilapidated and too cramped from 1849. That same year, the municipality asked the architect Grillot for a quote. In 1852 the factory council asked the prefect for permission to organize a lottery to fund the work, it was to take place in 1856, along with a subscription. Despite the fierce opposition, in 1857, from the inhabitants of the district of the church, who found the rebuilding of the church expensive, the municipality counted on the emperor, who decided to build a new building on the path of Saint-Loup.
