A small rocky gorge; you feel like you're in another world, very mystical.

A lovingly furnished grotto for the little dwarves

The picnic area called Au Clair de l'Insele is located at the start of the Durmenach Larch Forest trail, a lovely 5 km walk perfect for families. This area includes a wooden shelter with a table and bench, as well as a barbecue area. The site is shady and very pleasant, with a small stream flowing right next to it. Children can play safely there. The path is charmingly decorated with original metal sculptures created by a local resident.

The Heritage House, a symbol of Durmenach's Jewish presence in the 18th century, escaped demolition and has become a unifying cultural symbol. This small house, barely 40 square meters, was restored a few years ago by residents eager to preserve the village's history. With the approval of the town council, they mobilized to breathe new life into it, respecting local building traditions, transforming it into a heritage house that now shelters the objects and documents collected over the years by the local historical society.

Of the former Franciscan convent of Luppach, only a sandstone sundial from the 18th century and the burial vault remain, 46 tomb niches (empty), curved in a segmental arch arranged under several arcana.

A very nice hike and view from the tower. There are signs at the top pointing out the sights you can see in the distance. It wobbles slightly at the very top.

Dwarf Cave

In 1913 and 1914, following the ideas of Johann Knauth, architect of Strasbourg Cathedral and curator of the M.H., the nave, the side chapel of the Sacré-Coeur, the Saint-Joseph Chapel in the basement, and the sacristy were rebuilt in the Gothic style by the architect Alexandre Louvat from Mulhouse. The old Gothic nave, remodeled in the 18th century, was decorated with murals dating from 1491. To the south of the choir was a small chapel dating from the 14th and 15th centuries, with cross-ribbed vaults on consoles. To the north were the remains of the old priory cloister. On the site of the present Sacred Heart Chapel was the 18th-century Mount of Olives, the rood screen of which was removed in 1861.
