Saint Stephen “Saint-ETIENNE” is one of the seven first deacons of the early Jerusalem community and is also the first martyr (martyr) of early Christianity. The church remembers him on Boxing Day, December 26th. When Stephen uttered aloud his vision of the open heaven, "And being filled with the Holy Spirit, he looked up into heaven and saw the glory of God, and Jesus standing at the right hand of God" (Acts chapter 7 verse 55), the people were so indignant that that they drove him out of the city and stoned him.

The church of Saint-Étienne d'Aumont d'Aubrac was part of a former Benedictine priory founded in the 11th century by the powerful barons of Peyre. It combines the solidity of Roman architecture with the lightness of the arched windows with richly decorated leaded panes.

La Chaze-de-Peyre formerly belonged to the domain of the Barons of Peyre (11th - 14th century). Some other places in the region also bear the affix "de Peyre", which testifies to their former membership. In the village, pilgrims will find drinking water and toilets.

Located on the Haute Colagne, on the foothills of the Margeride at an altitude of 1,044m, the artificial lake of Ganivet, like the lake of Charpal, is fed by the Colagne. The lake is remarkable for the small wooded islet located in its center and accessible by swimming. This small shallow lake is home to some pretty brown trout from the Colagne river, as well as gudgeons or minnows.
