1242년부터 1262년까지 Gaston VIl Moncade가 건설한 성으로, 3개의 방어선과 V자형 석조 해자로 보호되었습니다. 본관은 돈존의 입구를 보호했습니다. 지하층, 오각형 돈존은 문이 없었으며 감옥으로 사용되었고, 1층에는 경비실이 있었습니다. 이 성은 14세기에 Gaston Febus에 의해 개조되었습니다. 종교 전쟁 중인 1569년에 불탔고, 혁명 시기에 철거업자들에게 팔려 해체되었습니다. 1845년에 복원된 유적.

With the patronage of "John the Baptist," this parish has chosen a saint who is considered a forerunner of Jesus Christ. In Christian theology, he is the voice of one crying in the wilderness prophesied in the Old Testament book of Isaiah: "A voice calls out: 'In the wilderness, prepare the way of the Lord; make straight in the desert a highway for our God!'" A city with a larger history of pilgrimage, where a big festival with "bloodless" bullfighting is celebrated on a weekend in July. T-shirt, red scarves and beret just like in Pamplona!

An old defense tower as a remnant of a castle from the Middle Ages. The remains of the moat are an architectural example of the fortifications of the time. The tower is open at certain times and certainly offers a great view. We got there too early.

Once again we have reached a milestone on the "Via Podiensis", our pilgrimage route to St. James (Chemin de Saint Jacques) through France; and here too, in the village of Navarrenx, our small group of pilgrims is charmed by the beautiful atmosphere of the place. But we still have to move on the next morning ... still the (comparatively short) way to Saint-Jean Pied-de-Port, and then - after crossing the Pyrenees - further on the "Camino Frances" through the north of Spain to the Tomb of the Apostle in Santiago de Compostela, Galicia.
