Beautiful, rustic little gorge

Built by the PWV Niedersimten (see: inscriptions on the endstones of the fountain wall, left and right outside).

This beautiful hidden gorge is worth a visit at any time of year. However, sturdy footwear is recommended in rainy weather.

The Wolfsägertal nature reserve, which covers approximately 22 hectares north of Fischbach near Dahn, has existed since 1983. You can walk along the Fischbach stream either on natural trails (yellow-red hiking trail) or on asphalt (bike, car, and truck trail). As of May 2025: The natural trail is partially covered with branches, making it impossible to pass through. This may only be temporary (and you can still walk to the other side – the asphalt side).

The Komoot routes are not correct here. But steps up lead straight to the gorge. Be sure to use the side paths to get to the waterfall and rock formations. Then it is really beautiful here. From the top you can hike back down to the valley on a beautiful path. The steps are all fine. The same does not apply to the railings. So you need to be sure-footed.

Fresh, cool water! This is the kind of fountain you'll want to refill your supplies on a long trip!
