Farges Castle in Farges-Allichamps

Château very representative of French classicism whose construction was completed in 1660 under the orders of François le Vau, architect of the King's buildings and member of the Royal Academy of Architecture. It is a private property which cannot be visited and is today in a worrying state of disrepair.

From this road, you can see the Saint Genès church in all its grandeur. Classified as a historic monument since 1862, it is one of the most beautiful Romanesque churches in Berry, in addition to being particularly imposing. When it was built, between the end of the 11th century and the beginning of the 12th century, it was dedicated to Saint-Etienne then was finally renamed in the 17th century after Saint-Genès. It has numerous sculpted capitals.

As you enter the charming Château de Lignières, you will be transported to a bygone era of elegance and grandeur. This historic castle, nestled in serene countryside, features a remarkable blend of Gothic and Renaissance architecture, making it a captivating sight. Former Benedictine abbey whose origins date back to 1093, the date when monks settled in this place called 'Casale Malanum'. This name will also give birth in the 15th century to the Casalian congregation, which will bring together a certain number of abbeys of men and women in the region. The building suffered destruction and damage on several occasions, notably during the Hundred Years' War and the Revolution. Overall, only the nave and the broken cradle currently remain. The facade probably dates from the beginning of the 12th century and has beautiful fluted piastres around the door.

The White Tower of Issoudun is a medieval tower built by Richard the Lionheart in the 12th century. The tower is located on a hill in the center of the town of Issoudun and offers panoramic views of the town and countryside. The tower is open Tuesday to Sunday, from 2:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m., and the entrance fee is 3 euros for adults and 1.5 euros for children.
