The mountain station of the First cable car serves as a starting point for many activities in the beautiful Bernese mountains. The journey from Grindelwald takes around 25 minutes.

If you're looking for the best photo opportunity in the Bernese Alps, you'll find it here. At the Holewang signpost there is a small, old wooden hut, which, with the huge, icy rock faces in the background, is perfect for a snapshot.

From the Berghaus Bort, you have one of the best views of the impressive Eiger North Face. The Alpinhotel is also home to the mid-station of the Grindelwald First gondola and a refreshment station during the Eiger Ultra Trail.

After crossing the Bärgelbach and leaving the forest, you can enjoy a beautiful view down to Grindelwald. There is a refreshment station nearby during the Eiger Ultra Trail.

From the large car park directly in front of the Hotel Wetterhorn you can see the Upper Grindelwald Glacier between the rock walls. There is a refreshment station here during the Eiger Ultra Trail, and outside of the event you can get refreshments at the Hotel Wetterhorn.

A well-developed gravel path takes you beautifully along the mountain stream, or rather river, the Schwarze Lütschine.

The First is a starting point for all outdoor enthusiasts. There are countless hiking trails that start here, a mountain inn, the mountain station of the Firstbahn and of course the impressive First Cliff Walk.

Small but nice: the inconspicuous Rasthysi. With a great view of the Eiger, the mountain restaurant is perfect for a short stopover on a trail run in the Grindelwald mountains.
