Since 1968, the Carolina Obelisk has stood in the middle of Museum Square in front of the Franciscan Church, after it was moved here from Unirii Square. Abraham Cürös and Samuel Nagy created this oldest secular monument in the city. The occasion was the visit of the Austro-Hungarian imperial couple Franz I and his fourth wife Karoline Auguste. They had travelled to Klausenberg in 1917 to calm the waves that the city had suffered during the famines caused by the Napoleonic Wars. However, the emperor and his wife did not get to see the obelisk, whose corners are accentuated by four eagles with laurel leaves. It was not completed until much later and inaugurated in 1831.

The building known as the Petrechevich-Horvath House has housed the National Museum of Transylvanian History since 1937, the successor to the first museum association in Transylvania, the Ardeeab Nzsezn Society founded in 1872. It is a museum of history and archaeology. The collections are arranged chronologically and give the visitor a good insight into historical development. The museum has objects from prehistory, the Dacian Middle Ages in Transylvania, the Roman period in Dacia, the Middle Ages and the modern era.

Since the beginning of the 19th century, the Central Park on the south bank of the Someșul Mic has been a popular meeting place. Its history begins in 1827, when the Jóltevö Asszonyi Egyesület organization leased the undeveloped land to create a recreational area for citizens. The park was opened to the public in the early 1830s and was originally called the People's Garden. Today, the Central Park is one of the most important green spaces in the city center.

At the entrance to the Central Park stands the Monument to the Victims of the Anti-Communist Resistance, built in 2006. It is a concrete cube clad in white marble, with the names of the prisons in which anti-communist prisoners suffered written in black marble on its side. The cube symbolizes a prison cell. The monument dedicated to the victims of the anti-communist resistance is the work of the architect Virgil Salvanu from Cluj.

In 1899, the city of Cluj wanted to commemorate the death of the Austrian Empress Elisabeth ("Sisi"), who had been murdered in Geneva shortly before by the anarchist Luigi Lucheni. It was decided to build a promenade on the Cetățuia Hill in memory of the Empress, with an associated bridge from the city center. The cult of Empress Elisabeth was widespread in Austria-Hungary at that time. The city's chief architect Laios Pákei planned the promenade, avenues were laid out, trees were planted and in 1901 a bust of the Empress was erected, designed by the Hungarian sculptor Alajos Strobl.

The Elisabeta Bridge allows pedestrians to cross the Someșul Mic River. The iron bridge is 35 meters long and one and a half meters wide. The idea of building a bridge here to connect the citadel with the lower part of the city existed as early as 1800, but it was not realized then.
