It's best to do the tour the other way around. Otherwise, you'll enter the castle illegally via a ladder. You'll have to pay when you leave. We didn't have to pay a fine; I think people here are pretty relaxed about it, but theoretically, you could face hefty fines. It seems to happen quite frequently, every day.

The fortifications of Kotor are an impressive structure, where you can see different architectural styles, with the Venetian style predominating. Unfortunately, earthquakes in the 16th and 17th centuries caused serious damage to this structure. The effects of the last earthquake that hit the Kotor Fortress in April 1979 can still be seen.
