Unfortunately, there are on the way there and in the fortress itself, tons of garbage ... empty plastic bottles, soda cans and other civil and tourist stuff. How ignorant do you have to be ?! - We only have this one (re) world, - people, the trash that you carry up fully, you could carry empty and thus easy, down again. Thousands of people daily go this way to look at beautiful things and enjoy and destroy it "in the same minute". WAKE UP!!!

The ascent to fortress is more or less demanding depending on the route. The different Schwierigskeitsgrade are marked on the two main entrances, but you can overlook quite quickly at entrances.
No matter which promotion you choose, you definitely need a good condition. The lighter, tourist routes are easily accessible, but often overcrowded. On the heavier roads there is not so much traffic, but you should be sure-footed and free from giddiness, because here there is often no protection down.
Once at the top, you have a good view over Kotor and the inner bay to Perast. On the paths and in the fortress itself, icon paintings, landscape paintings and drinks are offered again and again. Everything at rather high prices.
The opening hours and prices - usually € 2 - vary depending on the whim of the cashier; however, one is denied entry to the two main entrances after sunset. However, you can also climb the steeper paths at night. You just should not get caught. But since the Montenegrins are very comfortable, controls are quite rare. At night you can also make good pictures of the illuminated ascents and the fortress from the promenade.

The ruins of the fortress, 250 m above the bay, have few outstanding features. Signs point to supposed attractions. You're more likely to get a special view from the path.

Obviously there's an entrance fee for the fortress, the ticket office near the old town gate was no longer manned at 5 p.m. in April and the walkway was free.

We 'climbed' the fortress from behind, on the mountain side. It doesn't cost anything if you're athletic. Well, at least the hiking trail officially runs there according to its markings.
