Expelled from Florence, Dante Alighieri thought of finding his final refuge in Ravenna, but his mortal remains changed location several times to avoid theft until December 1945. In addition to the danger of German bombings and the recurring rumors of Hitler's creation in Berlin of a mausoleum to collect the remains of illustrious figures, some workers dug a hole lined with reinforced concrete at the bottom of which the box containing the poet's bones was placed. It's worth purchasing a combined ticket for five religious attractions in Ravenna. The price includes visits to the Basilica of San Vitale, the Mausoleum of Galla Placidia, the Basilica of S. Apollinare N., the Arcivescovile Museum and Cappella, and the Battistero Neoniano. The ticket price for November 2025 is €12.50. I recommend a ticket valid for five days from purchase.

At the Garibaldi Municipal Kindergarten, next to the MAR (Museum am Marna), there is a mural by street artist Refreshink that translates Banksy's famous work "The Flower Thrower" into mosaic. The artwork was created for the 8th Biennale of Contemporary Mosaics, organized by the City of Ravenna, the Department of Culture and Mosaics, and the Tourist Office.

Ravenna's old slaughterhouse originally consisted of a single room overlooking the Canale del Mulino, which was used as a stud farm after the construction of the new slaughterhouse (1897–1900, designed by Costantino Pirotti and supervised by Cesare Bezzi). Opened in 1902, the Borgo San Rocco complex consisted of six buildings arranged along the site. A seventh building, the cattle slaughterhouse, was built in a central position to divide the large space within the complex into two distinct courtyards. The first courtyard housed the cattle pens and the smaller poultry slaughterhouse, to the side of the cattle slaughterhouse. The second courtyard housed the water tower, the tallest building in the complex. The wool and pig slaughterhouses were also located along the shorter sides of the courtyard.
