The abbey served as the guardian of the Holy Ampulla (Sainte Ampoule) used in the coronation ceremonies of French kings, and Reims was known as Durocortorum when it served as the capital of the Roman province of Belgica.

The Saint-Remi Museum in Reims is housed in a former Benedictine abbey that was classified as a UNESCO World Heritage Site in 1991 and officially became a museum in 1978. The museum covers the period from Prehistory to the Renaissance (around 1530) and features regional archaeology collections, classical antiquities, and an extensive military history section

Inaugurated in 1996, on the occasion of the 15th centenary of the baptism of Clovis by Saint Remi and the visit of Pope John Paul II to Reims, this imposing statue offered by the Roederer champagne house was created by the Dutch artist Daphné du Barry.

The Jewish communities in Europe, whose centuries-old tradition is often only visible to the public through commemorative plaques or monuments, were honored - especially in these difficult times for them with a rapidly growing, openly expressed anti-Semitism - by awarding the "International Charlemagne Prize of Aachen" to the President of the Conference of European Rabbis, Chief Rabbi Pinchas Goldschmidt, and the Jewish communities in Europe. "In recognition of his outstanding work for peace, the self-determination of peoples and European values, for tolerance, pluralism and understanding, and in recognition of his significant commitment to interreligious and intercultural dialogue, the Board of Directors of the Society for the Award of the International Charlemagne Prize of Aachen in 2024 honors the President of the Conference of European Rabbis, Chief Rabbi Pinchas Goldschmidt, and together with him the Jewish communities in Europe. With this award, the Charlemagne Prize Directorate wants to send a signal that Jewish life is a natural part of Europe and that there can be no place for anti-Semitism in Europe. The Coulée verte de Reims is a beautiful green strip that stretches for about 24 kilometers along the banks of the canal and the River Vesle. This green corridor offers a variety of recreational options, such as walking, cycling, and jogging. The area has been carefully landscaped to facilitate both relaxation and sporting activities.

On the other side of the bank is the cycle path along which the V30 (Véloroute de la Somme à la Marne) runs.

This partly concreted path allows you to climb the Béru hill. During the ascent, you will be able to observe the vines of local winegrowers.
