107 bird species have been observed in the nature reserve. The most common breeding birds in the area are Wren, Blue Tit, Great Tit, Blackcap, Song Thrush, Blackbird, Robin, Willow Warbler, Chaffinch, Garden Warbler, Whitethroat, Rattlecap, Marsh Tit, Long-tailed Tit, Short-toed Treecreeper, Greylag Goose and White Wagtail.

More than 700 species of mushrooms have been identified in the nature reserve in recent years. The high proportion of dead wood contributes to the abundance of fungi in the area. Species that can be seen more frequently from the main trail are the beautiful Scarlet Cupling (Sarcoscypha austriaca), which can be found in early spring, the Parasitic Boletus (Xerocomus parasiticus) growing on puffballs, the only parasitic bolete species living there, the Ruffed Earthstar (Geastrum triplex) with its peculiar, almost human-like shape or the increasingly rare dark purple thickfoot (Cortinarius violaceus), which smells faintly of cedar wood.

The lack of nutrients is significant for the flora of the area. Over 300 flowering plants and almost 80 species of moss have been found here. Rarer species are green forest hyacinth (Platanthera chlorantha), wild thyme (Thymus pulegioides), kidney vetch (Anthyllis vulneraria), common milkweed (Polygala vulgaris), rattle pot (Rhinanthus minor), marsh violet (Viola palustris), gall bush (Myrica gale) and among the mosses the gray serrated cap (Rhacomitrium canescens).
