The symbol of the fighting centaurs is fish. In fact, until 1937, the city of Altona ran out of rank for the Hanseatic city of Hamburg. After 1937, Altona suddenly belonged to Hamburg (Greater Hamburg Act) and the citizens of Altona learned this from the newspaper, they did not like it. Altona was no longer a city but only a part of Hamburg. The fountain symbolizes the former city of Altona, which in the past was much more permissive and tolerant than Hamburg.
