In the historic power station at the Pfaffenteich, the theater still provides excitement with ballet, puppet theater, music theater and contemporary drama.

It used to be a state-of-the-art electricity supplier for the city of Schwerin, today it is home to actors and dancers: the E-Werk on the north bank of the Pfaffenteich has been an outdoor venue for the Mecklenburg State Theater in Schwerin since 1998.

The atmosphere is almost informal - both at the ticket counter and in the stage area, which offers space for around 100 theater fans. The artists seem close enough to touch and the productions - mostly modern - inspire audiences of all generations. But the pieces by the Fritz Reuter stage in the Low German dialect, which are popular beyond national borders, are also shown here.
The puppet theater is also at home in the E-Werk.

Located on the Spieltordamm between the Pfaffenteich and the Ziegelsee, the picturesque and multi-faceted brick plaster building was erected in 1903/04 in the German Renaissance style with a machine hall and administration wing. Due to the towers and the elaborate facade design, the E-Werk has a castle-like character.
