Jan van Schaffelaar (before 1445 - Barneveld, 16 July 1482) was a mercenary (ruter) who came to his end after he jumped from the tower of Barneveld besieged by Hoeken during the Stichtse War.

Little is known about Jan van Schaffelaar. Van Schaffelaar's wife was called Aleid. He left behind a daughter Wendelmoet van Schaffelaar. Research has shown that in the 14th century on the border of Leusden and Barneveld there was a farm with the name De Schaffelaar from which the residents took their name.
